NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator

As January rolls to an end, you can consider yourself VERY lucky if you have not yet had the unpleasant experience of a runny or stuffy nosed little one.  Although we haven’t been quite that lucky, we’ve done a pretty good job at avoiding any full blown colds or other germy infections so far this winter.  However, it is only January, so we still have a few more months of nastiness to get through before I’ll consider us in the clear!
When the inevitable does finally occur, we’ll be prepared better than ever before, with our amazing “NoseFrida the snotsucker“, which I won from our local maternity boutique, Belly Elan!

Dana and I had the pleasure of participating in the Grand Re-Opening Event of Belly Elan’s brand new Blakeney location a few weeks ago, with a fabulous BabyLuxe {daily} display for all to touch, feel, try and be educated on.  So much fun & really, our true calling!  However, during a slow period, we took advantage of the time and browsed the store a bit.  Imagine the look on our faces when we discovered a basket of these NoseFrida Nasal Aspirators & we saw the image on the box; a woman sucking on a tube that went up to her baby’s nostril!  Shock and horror, indeed!  Too bad Nidhie, the owner of Belly Elan, was too busy helping customers to give us a full explanation at the time…
Several hours later, Harrison, who was with me at the event {you know, for sample & display purposes of course}, started sniffling.  Realizing I didn’t have our bulb syringe with me, Nidhie proclaimed that she had JUST the solution!  Moments later, she pulled out that basket of NoseFrida snotsuckers & proceeded to give us a full education & demonstration.
So I know by now, you’re all with me in thinking “gross”, right?  Actually on the contrary, the NoseFrida turned out to be not gross at all, and it works SO much better than the bulb syringe ever could or would!   This Swedish doctor-invented and doctor-recommended nasal aspirator is completely hygenic & safe for you and your baby!  Completely appropriate for newborn to toddler-age, NoseFrida does not go inside of your baby’s nose, like the traditional bulb syringe does, and the snot does not end up in your mouth, as it appears on the package.
The mouthpiece is attached to a rather long hose, that ends with a sterile hygiene filter, which is attached to a cigar-shaped tube, which has a small opening at the end.  Simply place the opening at the base of your baby’s nostril, and apply sucking to the mouthpiece.  You control how much or how little you suck, depending on your child’s condition.  I can tell you this, no matter how hard you suck, generally speaking, nothing should end up much more than half way up the tube, rarely ever even reaching the filter.  Once you’re done, simply wash the tube and hose with soap & water & replace the filter.  Then sit back and watch in amazement, your happy little, clean & clear-nosed baby!
Get yours today, at the fabulous Belly Elan Maternity Boutique, on-line, or in the store, the choice is yours!

I use a similar one and it works great with looser snot. The sticky snot tends to get stuck. I read reviews on the Nosefrida and may just have to get one. Much more effective than the bulb.

Are you now going euurrghhh that’s disgusting ? Well wait until you hear the noise it makes when you’re sucking bogies out and start seeing snotty bits going up the tube ! I LOVE CLEANOZ ASPIRATOR. I bought this product for my daughter who has had horrible time breathing when she gets sick. This product worked perfectly and was able to alleviate my daughters struggling to breathe. All I did was drop a few drops of Cleanoz saline preservative free in her nose to loosen up the snot, and then I used the Cleanoz. It was great. I had to use it a couple more times that day to help her keep breathing well. And the best part was that at the end of the day, I threw away the nozzle. I didn’t have to clean anything! The next day she was still a little congested and so I used a new nozzle piece, and it worked great again. She actually likes it now when I use the Cleanoz. She HATED the bulb syringe and I don’t want to use a mouth suction device…..

How can someone think snot is that gross, it’s your own kid? Strange. In any case, manual suckers work so much better than anything else and you are not wasting batteries and silly disposable pieces. Most importatnly it works and keeps snot outta your kids’ nose for hours! And they are much cheaper….

Nosefrida is awesome. It was recommended by the NICU nurses in the hospital and it works. That last post sounds a bit like someone trying to promote their own product…
