Abe’s Market Brand of the Month: Children Inspire Design

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

I “Fall” clean instead of “Spring” clean.  Right around back to school season is the time to re-arrange, re-decorate, clean the cupboards and base boards {today is steam cleaning the carpet day in preparation for all the re-arranging to come!}  The best part of my Fall OCD is new decor, new themes for the kids rooms and playroom.  Educating my kids through decor, through art, through having a passion for lots of color and design is a fun way to get them involved in making our house a home.

Your playroom and nurseries {and older kids rooms as well} should be places of learning and fun, not just a place to rest your head at night or watch TV.  The pieces from Children Inspire Design right at Abe’s Market can give any room a bit of eco-friendly modern design, with a fabulous educational twist!  Make an area for homework to be done in a quiet, peaceful place in the home and hang some brilliant Nature Themed Alphabet Wall Cards like the ones below.

An affordable way to decorate the kid-friendly places in your home, conversation pieces, educational moments for years to come!

Artist and designer Rebecca Peragine is the mastermind behind Children Inspire Design.  We’ve worked with her many times in the past and are so happy to see her join the Abe’s Market community.  View her interview and background, plus her products sold at Abe’s Market here.  Enjoy!! {Don’t forget about “Share It” pricing, get an even better deal!!}

Cama Organic Bed

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

One of the biggest concerns of parents of newborns is how they sleep and eat.  We don’t need to a medical degree to know that healthy babies need lots of sleep and good nutrition.  In the very beginning days of your babies life sleep is crucial, he’s growing rapidly and adjusting to being in his new world.  So it makes perfect sense that parents put a ton of thought and consideration into their newborns sleeping environment.  I’m not JUST talking about the decor ladies :-)   I’m actually focusing on the nitty gritty, the bed, the foundation of your growing babies sleep environment.

Since our newborns typically sleep 16-18 hours a day in the beginning it is crucial that what they are sleeping on and breathing in is made of the very safest products.  I’d like to introduce you to a little family run business in Germany manufacturing the absolute perfect sleep environment for you newborn to thrive.   Cama Organic  has designed a hand crafted organic all natural baby cradle which coverts to a toddler bed.

Isn’t this cradle lovely!  Cama Organic had made the bed with wood that is smooth with a slight sheen.  The organic cotton mattress area is spanned and can be adjusted to the various demands of babies and toddlers. Through this an orthopedically correct laying position that conventional high-quality baby mattresses generally offer can be assured.  You do not have to worry about the bed sagging. :-)  The solid pine wood frame can be put together easily. A thick, removable molleton inlay made out of organic cotton yields isolation and additional laying comfort. It is heavy and gives a ton of thick softness to your newborns sleep.  The side frame is furnished with viewing windows and can be adjusted in height. So if you are positioning your cradle near your bed you can easily see your baby without having to get in and out of bed yourself.  The baby lies on an additional hygienic inlay made out of cotton molleton, which is easily removable and washable, which is really convenient for all the spit up and full diapers.  If necessary the entire cotton fabric (including the laying area) can be removed and washed at 60⁰ C.  You can not wash your conventional mattresses which harbour dust mites that you just can not get rid of without buying a new mattress.

When the time comes convert the cradle to a pack-n-play style bed but with bigger dimentions.   Feel good that your baby is growing breathing healthy air, you are making sure your child doesn’t develop allergies due to poor sleeping products.  This bed is constructed by parents who believe safety, health and sleeping comfort are your concerns as parents watching your newborn grow.  Through intensive cooperation with Cama Organics medical colleagues in Sweden and Germany this baby bed was created and optimized to the maximum for offering superior sleep comfort. The bed fulfills high ecological demands. The wood stems from Northern Europe, the cotton from certified organic cultivation.   Cama Organic has abstained to use plastics, metal and glue, it is a handmade all natural bed.

Feel free to contact the owners via  info@camaorganic.de and check them out on FaceBook to inquire about ordering your bed today!

Balance Baby {GIVEAWAY & FREE SHIPPING}

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

One last item to make your nursery complete, the interactive mobile.  The retail shops have so many to choose from, either to match your theme or with all the bells and whistles {music, a remote, educational patterns}, but what those brand names don’t offer is inspiring design  {most mobiles are so “loud” to the eyes it’s scary}, a treasured keepsake, a conversation piece {between baby and mobile, between baby and mommy} and a uniqueness that expands into any room in your home…um yes, we’re still talking about a mobile here!  A mobile that educates, stimulates, and soothes baby without all the bells and whistles!

I’m still in awe of Balance Baby!  We all hang pictures in our house, everywhere, but never with style like this!  For newborns, pictures of their siblings and family to welcome them into the world and to their new room, perfect for over the crib, over the changing table, in the window, or in the corner…wherever…you can tell just from the images that Balance Baby mobiles will stand out and be noticed no matter where they are placed!  Chat with even the youngest infants about the pictures you’ve chosen to display {8 pictures total}, engage with them, you’ll be amazed at how familiar they’ll become with those images and what a comfort your family photographs will bring!  For older babies {or for use in a playroom vs. a nursery} add pictures of letters, numbers, colors, animals, and more.  The Balance Baby can grow with you and your children to no end!  For adults, what a brilliant way to display your wedding pictures over the curio cabinet in the dining room, or for college students to hang pictures of their friends back home in their dorms.  Never ending possibilities, just needs a little creativity!   Here’s a thought…your boring office or cube at work could use a little face lift right?  Add a Balance Baby to the window or corner and watch the heads turn!  Father’s Day gift for his office perhaps??

These mobiles are wooden and painted {non-toxic of course} either snow or blackberry and come straight to you from Alaska.  Once your 8 4×6 pictures are added and it’s hung where you want it, it’s perfectly “balanced” and sways away, rotating the images slowly and calmly, simply gorgeous!  Okay, let’s talk gifts…any mommy-to-be you know would be thrilled with a Balance Baby, am I right??  We hung our sample mobile over our BabyElan {daily} showcasing table at our last All About Baby event and loved watching the pregnant ladies light up as they gazed upon the mobile hanging over their heads.  We added color photographs throughout our mobile {and actually display ours proudly in our playroom at home now}, but as you can see from images above, black and white pics are extremely striking!  For those of you ready to order, here’s your ordering information page, shipping is FREE to the US & Canada!

This is one of those products I could brag about for days…and I’m beyond thrilled to offer one up for a GIVEAWAY!  Let us know which color Balance Baby you would pick if you won and where in your house you would display it.  Contest ends in one week, good luck to all!
