Graze Organic {DISCOUNT}

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Baseball practice started this week.  Machine pitch for the 8 year old, first tee-ball season for the 3 year old {he’ll be 4 in 3 weeks}.  This means that life has officially gotten even more hectic for the Blakes, if that was possible!  Also means snack-time, dinner-time, and weekend lunches for about 4 days out of the week will be served on the baseball stands or lounging in the grass behind the dugouts once the weather gets a bit warmer.  Reusable snack totes, here we come!!!

I will NOT, will NOT, HAVE NOT bought plastic baggies for our lunches and away meals in quite some time thanks to all the reusable baggie companies out there!  I’ve tried my fair share and have never had a complaint!  Today I want to introduce you to the sturdiest ones I’ve found so far, plus the most “educational” for my pre-schooler.  No fancy designs from Graze Organic and that is totally not a bad thing!  When it comes to a hectic life and three very territorial little boys, simple and “the same” is what matters most!  So when I say, “Connor, grab your snack bag…” he’s learned which Graze Organic bag has “snack” on it.  Of course, they still fight over the “surprise” one {little do they know that one of these days I’m going to fill it with broccoli…SURPRISE!!!}

See, Graze Organic bags are educational like I mentioned.  My 3 year old knows the difference between them all, the pictures helped him learn the words and I have the confidence that when I’m watching T throw the ball at 6:30pm and chasing A as he heads for the port-a-potties and C is whining for his sandwich {AKA dinner on the run} I point him towards our cooler {which yes, is reusable too} and he knows which bag to open to find his sandwich!  Same goes for his {daily} pre-school lunch, all the bags are pre-labeled for us and easy to open for C so there’s no prep work for him or his teacher.

And what compliments I’ve received!!  Everyone is in love with reusable everything now a days but the simple “fruit” baggie from Graze Organics has gotten me the most comments while out and about {first was at a hockey game while the boys shared Goldfish from the “snack” bag and the family next to use was enthralled by Graze Organic bags!}.  Oh wait…I mentioned how sturdy they are right?  I’ve tried several other companies and these are the thickest, most durable ones yet!  Made in the USA from 100% certified organic cotton & hand silk-screened using water-based inks BTW so no worries on the material that is storing your child’s food.  I’ve been ever so impressed with our set of samples from Graze Organic and I thank them for easing my woes as baseball season crashed down on our family!!  GO PS ROYALS!

Organic Cloth Napkins too!!

MamaElan Guest Writer: Ella from aboutBaby

Oh the joys of being prego!!!  I do miss it so very much, I’m sure the Blakes with pop out a 4th at some point in time {don’t tell my husband I said that}!  I had easy, beautiful pregnancies…no really, I did!!  BUT, I SO agree with Ella below!  I’m sure you’ve been in this situation before, it’s fun seeing it from another mother’s point of view!  Ella is co-owner of aboutBaby {offering the aboutBaby.bibby we recently bragged about}, read more about Ella and her bibby here and her story below; enjoy your weekend all!

“I remember, the first time when I was pregnant in my late twenties. I felt ecstatic, overjoyed, happy, happy, happy. I told everyone I met, at the supermarket, in an elevator; at the movies, in the park, let’s just say if you were within hearing range, you knew I was pregnant. I literally told EVERYONE.
It didn’t matter that I didn’t show or that I myself just found out I was pregnant. I just wanted to share the biggest news of my life with one and all. But it seemed that my audience wanted to share as well. They wanted it seemed to connect to my news somehow…and this somehow translated into a physical gesture in response to my great announcement. Almost all reached out to touch me…I mean my belly. And that folks is not nice. The cold or the clammy hands would reach out and actually “feel” for the baby. “Yes, I feel the baby!”, the person would exclaim.
“No”, I would think to myself “you don’t feel a thing EXCEPT my stomach”. I didn’t appreciate such a gesture. It’s not nice. The first time it happened, a co-worker reached out and grabbed my belly with both hands and exclaimed “I think I felt a kick”. Well that’s personal isn’t it? I mean it’s my body, my baby and here is a stranger touching me. I was disturbed. I told my friends and they said that I was overreacting. I thought that maybe the hormones were playing kooky with me.
I was also pregnant in my mid-thirties. I was just as happy as the first time and shared the news with everyone …well perhaps I skipped the service people where I worked figuring they’ll soon “see” for themselves. And then the touching began again. It bothered me this time as much as the first time. But this time I said something. Something along the lines of “Oh, I am not comfortable with that gesture”. This was fine but I would say after the “touch of my belly” and that really didn’t help the situation any…i.e. me. I couldn’t just duck to escape. Could I?? I was beginning to wonder, what is the proper etiquette on the topic of “touching the belly of a pregnant woman”. Was it considered a good luck gesture in our culture? I was dumbfounded.
Surprise!! I was in my early forties when I was expecting once again. Nothing has changed …the hands tried to still reach out and touch….but this time before breaking the news to everyone I would announce the “please don’t touch” rule.”

DaBib {SALE}

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If you are looking for a full coverage, yet durable, long lasting bib, then you’ll find exactly that at DaBib! I have the “giggles” dabib style and the “hugs” dabib style and I tested them on both my always messy toddler and my newly drooling baby. Both styles stood up to the tasks. They protected my children’s clothes and they are easy to clean! Best yet, they have a front folding pocket to catch all those crumbs that are definitely going to fall! No more frantically cleaning my child’s shirt and no more scrunching up a messy bib in the bottom of my diaper bag! These bibs have waterproof backing and the “giggles” style has a waterproof front and back. I easily wiped down the bib after my little girl spilled macaroni and cheese, then folded it up and put it right back in my bag to reuse.

With the “hugs” style from DaBib, the front is a soft, cozy velour fabric that was gentle on my baby’s sensitive skin. It cleaned up little spittles and drool without irritating her face and the “scrunchy” neck prevented any drool or milk from spilling down the back of her shirt as she ate. What a great product! They are machine washable, shrink resistant and best yet – environmentally friendly and non-toxic! I LOVE these bibs! They are super cute too! And with a front fastener, no more fumbling in my daughter’s long hair to open or close the velcro! She loves that! I definitely recommend! You can get yours at dabib.com.

Check out this fabulous “patent” sale from DaBib…STOCK UP!
“We’re celebrating! DaBib has now earned 2 US Patents – which means that all of our product packaging needs to change!!
