Kinderbliss

“See you later alligator, after a while crocodile”, a saying that still to this day reminds me of my grandmother.  She said it everyday of my life growing up, funny picturing a grandmother saying that to a 7 year old!  And it was fabulous to find a tee for my youngest from Kinderbliss that sports “See you later gator” {pic of gator}, now it’s time for me to pass on this silly saying to my boys!

A quick mention from there current press release:

Armando Bellmas Photography

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Today the BabyElan {daily} team would like to show you a bit of “us”…a photo shoot recently done with Sarah and Dana, their kids, and the brilliant Armando Bellmas!  Looking for a modern, unique twist on photography at it’s finest, look no further!  A true professional, yet laid back and super kid-friendly, Armando creates masterpieces in life while you and I just pass it by!  Enjoy these amazing pics plus a quick little interview with this clever man! {Scroll to the bottom to see the great shots from our own photo shoot}

Tell us a little about your typical work day:

I have a pretty unconventional work life. Some days I’m making photos, others I’m behind a computer retouching images, marketing my tail off, writing for my blog, or taking a morning off to hang out with my kids. Every day is different. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tell us about your most enjoyable photo shoot:

Any day that I’m behind a camera making photographs is a good day. The photo shoots where I get paid are very enjoyable (ha ha!). I’m always making photos, though. I have a couple of personal projects that I’m always working on. Those are always very rewarding because there is no pressure or set expectation. I can just create. The freedom to shoot what you want, when you want — and possibly fail at getting the shot and learn from it — is priceless.

Tell us about your most stressful photo shoot:

They’re all stressful to some degree. A lot goes into a photo shoot that most people just aren’t aware of. Usually, on bigger productions for ad agencies and marketing companies, I have a producer that helps with logistics and assistants that help with my gear and lighting. Then there a the shoots where it’s just me, the subject, and my camera. Ultimately I am responsible for making the photos so I’m usually pretty focused on the task at hand. There’s always a little sweat on my brow as I work. That’s just a sign that I’m really into what is going on.

What is your best advice for the amateur photographer, in trying to capture the beauty of his/her family on camera?

Don’t force the shots. Many times people will get too into the posed thing. While it’s not always a bad thing, try to look for the moments that belong to your family. My 7 year old son likes to play with trucks, cars, and horses. One morning at breakfast he had all his little toy horses lined up around his plate. That was a distinct Bellmas family moment. I slowly got the camera out, aimed it at him, and shot. No warning, no thinking, just did it.

The other advice is turn off your flash (if you can). Explore your camera’s settings a bit and see what you can do with a higher ISO and no flash (photos will require less light at higher ISOs). Your photos will lose the flash shadow that screams amateur. That’s a good thing.

Anything else you’d like to add that you think our readers would find interesting?

As I mentioned before, my work life is pretty unconventional. I have a blog related to my business but it normally doesn’t have anything to do with it. The blog, be still please [the link is http://www.bellmas.com/blog], is a place for me to show prospective clients more about me beyond the photography. I listen to music, think too much, love art, and read A LOT. (Currently reading a book a week and blogging about it.) Every now and then I’ll post photos from a shoot, a day trip, or of my kids. Mostly it’s about the things that inspire me when I get out from behind the camera: other photographers, painters, books, music, poetry, the ocean, etc. It helps people understand me better and it inspires me to go out and create.

Say hi to Armando on FB

MamaElan Guest Writer: Ella from aboutBaby

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Oh the joys of being prego!!!  I do miss it so very much, I’m sure the Blakes with pop out a 4th at some point in time {don’t tell my husband I said that}!  I had easy, beautiful pregnancies…no really, I did!!  BUT, I SO agree with Ella below!  I’m sure you’ve been in this situation before, it’s fun seeing it from another mother’s point of view!  Ella is co-owner of aboutBaby {offering the aboutBaby.bibby we recently bragged about}, read more about Ella and her bibby here and her story below; enjoy your weekend all!

“I remember, the first time when I was pregnant in my late twenties. I felt ecstatic, overjoyed, happy, happy, happy. I told everyone I met, at the supermarket, in an elevator; at the movies, in the park, let’s just say if you were within hearing range, you knew I was pregnant. I literally told EVERYONE.
It didn’t matter that I didn’t show or that I myself just found out I was pregnant. I just wanted to share the biggest news of my life with one and all. But it seemed that my audience wanted to share as well. They wanted it seemed to connect to my news somehow…and this somehow translated into a physical gesture in response to my great announcement. Almost all reached out to touch me…I mean my belly. And that folks is not nice. The cold or the clammy hands would reach out and actually “feel” for the baby. “Yes, I feel the baby!”, the person would exclaim.
“No”, I would think to myself “you don’t feel a thing EXCEPT my stomach”. I didn’t appreciate such a gesture. It’s not nice. The first time it happened, a co-worker reached out and grabbed my belly with both hands and exclaimed “I think I felt a kick”. Well that’s personal isn’t it? I mean it’s my body, my baby and here is a stranger touching me. I was disturbed. I told my friends and they said that I was overreacting. I thought that maybe the hormones were playing kooky with me.
I was also pregnant in my mid-thirties. I was just as happy as the first time and shared the news with everyone …well perhaps I skipped the service people where I worked figuring they’ll soon “see” for themselves. And then the touching began again. It bothered me this time as much as the first time. But this time I said something. Something along the lines of “Oh, I am not comfortable with that gesture”. This was fine but I would say after the “touch of my belly” and that really didn’t help the situation any…i.e. me. I couldn’t just duck to escape. Could I?? I was beginning to wonder, what is the proper etiquette on the topic of “touching the belly of a pregnant woman”. Was it considered a good luck gesture in our culture? I was dumbfounded.
Surprise!! I was in my early forties when I was expecting once again. Nothing has changed …the hands tried to still reach out and touch….but this time before breaking the news to everyone I would announce the “please don’t touch” rule.”

The Sophie {FREE SHIPPING & 15% DISCOUNT}

 Hi my pregnant friends :-)   How are you feeling today?  All pregnancies are different, some are glorious the entire 9 months others can start off lousy but end up wonderful.  Regardless of how many weeks you are pregnant you might be experiencing back pain, 70% of pregnant women has lower back pain during their pregnancy.   Well ladies, there’s no need to be any more uncomfortable than you absolutely have to be :-)

Mommy Love is a unique company that offers you a real product to help relieve lower back pain.  I’ve looked around, the pillow options for pregnant women are really non existent.  There are BIG pillows that are boomerang shaped and nice to sleep with on your side but that isn’t helping your lower back pain.  There is this one really foreign looking prone(on your belly)  position cushion that is almost $300.00 and looks plastic, hard and very constraining.

So I’ve found you, The Sophie Prone Pregnancy Cushion ! Curious?  This innovative cushion is great for any trimester! It has many uses that include Napping, Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Transition for Stomach Sleepers, Resting, & More. The unique design allows pregnant women to lie safely and comfortably, by utilizing the support blocks that come with every Sophie.

The Sophie allows expecting Moms to ease back pain by pulling pressure away from your back, encourages the baby to change positions helping the baby develop, and most importantly, relieving pressure on the spine! The first COST EFFECTIVE patented product that allows expecting moms to get back on their stomachs, get massaged, and get the extra relief they need by being in the prone (on your belly) position. Now included with covers at no additional charge! The Sophie is the only clinically accepted pregnancy cushion on the market that relieves lower back pain. The complete pregnancy cushion for every expecting mom!

Since I am not pregnant my good friend reviewed this product as a guest editor for us at BabyLuxe Daily.  Here is what she had to say, “  I used the Sophie cushion often until my belly got in the way of my comfort with the pillow.  It is a unique contraption for sure with the comfort of mommy in mind ” :-)

THE SOPHIE WITH BLOCKS

THE SOPHIE WITH BLOCKS

The Sophie product come with one cover of your choice, support cushion, two side support blocks, and one head cushion. The support blocks, in combination with The Sophie, can add needed support as the uterus expands during each trimester of pregnancy. Each one of these blocks can be used for various positions during pregnancy. The head cushion, and side support blocks, can be used as a side wedge, leg support, and lower back support while sitting in a chair, or any other position you feel these blocks can be utilized for support.

Another really fantastic feature of the cushion is that you can definitely use it after delivery when your stomach is still big.  You might be craving to sleep on your belly but it might not feel so wonderful right after giving birth :-)   So use the cushion as a transition back to your flat bed.   Nice!   And at this price you can afford to be comfortable.  Get some sleep mom :-)

The Sophie  will be featured at  The Baby Kid Expo in April in Saint Louis.  A clinical version of The Sophie  is coming out this week. It is specifically designed for Massage therapy, Physical Therapy, and Chiropractors.  The Sophie will be featured in the April issue of Pregnancy & newborn.

ALERT!    USE CODE babyluxe WHEN CHECKING OUT TO RECEIVE A 15% DISCOUNT ON YOUR VERY OWN SOPHIE!  FREE SHIPPING TOO! ENJOY
