Abe’s Peanut {GIVEAWAY}

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like receiving a post card in the mail.  They’re fun, they usually always tell a story about someone’s adventure and of course post cards include a descriptive picture on the front.  A simple pleasure. Today in an email world our kids don’t experience simple pleasures like postcards anymore.   Abe’s Peanut however can help all of our children to know what it is like look forward to the mailman’s daily visit!

Abe’s Peanut is a narrative that unfolds over four different postcards each month (one a week).  Each postcard includes part of the story as well as a corresponding picture all addressed to your child.  My son Dylan has been receiving Abe’s Peanut for several weeks now and really gets excited about the mailman coming!  Each postcard is promptly read in his room (safely away from the hands of his 15 month old brother) and then placed into the top drawer in his nightstand.  All four postcards then come out a second time the day the fourth arrives.  Then his puzzle is complete!  He not only enjoys getting mail addressed to him but he also enjoys the challenge of reading the postcards himself.  Once he has a set he reads them over and over.

Each month a different artist and writer team collaborates together.  Expect a whole new look and concept and story each month.  It keeps Abe’s Peanut fresh for the young reader and they will be interested in each new adventure.  This is a great gift for your child or a friend or relative.  This gift renews itself every week giving it’s recipient something to look forward to constantly!

Abe’s Peanut would like one of our lucky readers to win one free subscription to Abe’s Peanut!  To enter please post what you like best about Abe’s Peanut or why you would like to win the free subscription to enter.  This contest will run for one week!  Good luck everyone!

My “office” {aka a corner in my bedroom} is a nightmare!  I’ll clean it, it’s messy by that evening.  I need a bigger desk of course, that would help, but it’s the papers, and lists, and endless amount of organization that needs to be done that makes it an utter disaster zone!  Today marks the first day of school for my oldest, 3rd grade…last night we were all like tornadoes trying to get back into the swing of early to bed, making lunches, folding laundry, and picking out the best first day outfit…it was exhausting, entertaining, and a bit sad {do I really have an almost 9 yr old??}.  Want to know my little sanity saver for a small piece of organization that goes a long way??

WallCandy Arts Whiteboard wall decals!  You’ve seen the chalkboard ones {which we have all over our playroom}, now check out the whiteboard ones!  Super clever and they have made my week!  A pack of 3 is only $18, thanks to our sample pack, we have one on our fridge for grocery lists, keeping track of chores, and “mommy/daddy to-dos”, another one is on T’s bedroom door for his to-dos and reminders for school {he’s also started his Christmas List already on this…this boy thinks ahead, may be our last year “believing” so I’m all for him enjoying it while he can}, and the last is on my “office” wall above my desk.  Oh heaven…I’ve used dry-erase boards before and they are fabulous of course, but they are always a bit too big, they fall or ruin the walls with nail holes, never just perfect…like these.  Move them around, wherever you want for whatever your needs.  Like I said, just a tiny, affordable bit of organization that goes a long way!!  We are now ready for school and Fall!

And if you haven’t ventured into the world of chalk decals yet, you MUST!  These are super fun for playrooms and bedrooms, yet perfect for the kitchen too for to-dos and supplies.  The kids LOVE these…buy them the chalk decals, buy some whiteboard decals for yourself, and you’re good to go!  Useful wall decor for the entire family!

green i am {DISCOUNT}

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Okay folks today I’m  introducing you to a woman who can make living green super easy!  She’ll help you sort through all the confusing myths about your cleaning products.  Look in your cleaning supply cabinet, how many different bottles of cleaning products do you have?  How much money do you spend regularly on your supplies?  Too much!:-)  I recently hosted a Green I Am party and learned so much.   Penny Dietz is informed, she lives green and is very committed to ensuring her family is protected and healthy.  She started by simply making little changes to how she cleaned her house.

So now under my sink I have 3 bottles of cleaner, one container of a scrub and one bottle to replace spraying Lysol or febreze.   WOW the space!  That is just a silly advantage to cleaning green but I love it!  Nicholas loves to help me clean, handing him the Clorox wipes isn’t the best thing to do or the Windex so we didn’t get to “play” while I cleaned.  But now, he’s moms best helper ;-) Read Penny’s testimonials like this one, ”I had one of those “I help chu Mommy” moments on Thanksgiving morning as I was doing the pre-cooking cleaning. My preschooler wanted to clean ALL the horizontal surfaces in the kitchen and living room. Since we use Basic H2, I was able to let him “help me” without worrying about how much he was using or what he was inhaling or what was touching my furniture (or cats for that matter — though they object to being called “horizontal surfaces”). I am so glad we use a product that is friendly to our environment, furniture, family “.  green i am is your one stop shopping for making necessary changes to breathing clean air, using chemical free cleaners and being healthier.  But it is a lot more too, green i am offers baby products, kids nutrition, of course home products and nutrition for adults and skin care!

Penny Dietz

“I’ve made it my mission to get to the facts – like getting the real dirt on clean. I’ve uncovered the marketing fluff and removed the guesswork. Because let’s face it, even products that call themselves green, usually aren’t.” Penny has done the research for us so don’t spend your time figuring out what she has already discovered, learn from her and  free up time in your day to spend with your family :-)

Did you know pound for pound of body weight, children drink more water, eat more food, and breathe more air than adults. The implication of this is that children will have substantially heavier exposures than adults to any toxins that are present in water, food, or air.  That is a pretty good reason to stop using toxic cleaning products right?

Check out green i am on facebook to learn more or visit the website for green i am and schedule a consultation with Penny.  That truly is the very best way to get a real understanding of the changes you can make and how easy and affordable it can be.   So stop hesitating, just take the first step in living greener by contacting her today.  It will not get any easier than this, trust me :-)

ALL BABYELAN SUBSCRIBERS ARE LUCKY TODAY :-)   RECEIVE 15% OFF RETAIL PRODUCT PURCHASES & A FREE 1/2 OFF CONSULTATION!!!!  Valid until August 31st.  Enjoy

clementine art

We have had a lot of fun creating master pieces in our house this summer.  Nicholas and Noah both have enjoyed painting, rolling play dough, gluing anything that sticks to paper :-) Sitting with your kids and just getting into a massive mess of creativity is one of  the absolute best times spent together.  Nicholas’ imagination is so much fun at almost 4 years old and Noah is discovery EVERYTHING at just over a year.  So together we have a blast!

We recieved an all natural certified non-toxic art gift set from Clementine Art out of Boulder Colorado and have been thoroughly enjoying all the features of the set.  For the kids using all natural markers, paint, modeling dough, crayons and glue has meant I am not fretting over the mess :-)   Noah puts a lot of things into his mouth still so playing with dough was something nicholas and I use to do during Noah’s nap so Noah never got to participate.  Same thing with painting, Noah didn’t get to play and even with Nicholas I would stress about the mess, the paint getting into his hair, on his skin.  Using Clementine Art made creative play so much more relaxing and free.  Which is exactly what it should all be about anyway.

NATURAL GIFT SET

Clementine believes that natural, organic and wholesome ingredients found in nature are best for children and the earth. Clementine art products, packaging and materials set a higher standard for safety and health in children’s products.
Clementine provides parents with a natural alternative to traditional, chemical-laden art products. Clementine uses wholesome, clean ingredients; non-toxic colors from nature (plants, vegetable, and minerals); and no synthetic preservatives.

DIANA MERCER

“I’ve been delighting in and learning from children for almost 20 years as a teacher, and former owner of Clementine Studio: Art Space for Children. I love to watch a child’s spirit emerge and develop through the process of art. Clementine Art provides little hands with the natural, simple and lovely art products they need.”  Make sure to check out their Art Blog, it is full of really cute and exciting information or become a fan on Facebook :-)   So, if you are interested in creating masterpieces without the toxins AND teaching your children about making responsible choices for a smaller footprint, using recycled products with soy ink and wind powered facilities, Clementine Art has it all packaged for you in a fabulous gift set :-)

Little Pim {GIVEAWAY}

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

I have to admit, I let my kids play with my iPhone anytime I need them to keep quiet.  I have purchased apps just for them for these occasions and most are not worth the $.99 I forked over to buy them.  That was before I was introduced to Little Pim’s Word Bag for the iPhone.  This app is fun for kids, it keeps them entertained and teaches them French or Spanish!

Research has proven that children who learn a second language before the age of  five are more likely to have superior reading, writing, analytical and social skills, as well as more extensive vocabularies than their monolingual peers.  Little Pim is designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers to learn a second or subsequent language to not only aid in their early development but also give them an advantage later in life.  Parents can now take full advantage of their young child’s natural, yet brief, proclivity for learning languages just by downloading an app!

I received a code to download a complementary Little Pim’s Word Bag app for my iPhone.  I let my 5 year old son use the app the next time we went out to dinner.  He was thrilled with it!  By the time the food was served he was asking us how to say some different words in French.  My  husband and I do not speak French so we directed him back to the app where he did find the answer to many of his questions! Besides the iPhone app Little Pim also has movies and other products to help kids have fun with new languages.  Little Pim also has movies and many other products that are designed to teach many different languages.  There are also coloring pages that are free on the Little Pim website with the word of the day!
