Abe’s Market Brand of the Month: Bottom’s Up {DISCOUNT}

So we’re in a bit of a rut these days… As many of you know, we started cloth diapering when Harrison was born. We were always a disposables family, but when I was pregnant for Harrison, I made the decision to use cloth for him! I figured, we’d go out with a bang, right? Well, we were doing great, really great for 3 months strong! Then H ended up in the hospital for a week, and all the greatness of cloth went right out the window… We came home & went back to cloth. They weren’t fitting him well anymore & we had more and more leaks. Then we left for Disney World. Back to disposables for another week. Now we’re home & still trying to get back into cloth… We stocked up on a case of disposables for our vacation & now I am justifying using them up, because he’s going to outgrow them otherwise. So you see a trend here? It doesn’t help that he has really outgrown all of the cloth diapers we have, except for a handful of one-size AIO’s, and I am not sure what to try next. So what’s a guilt-ridden mom to do?

Until I can make up my mind about which diapers to use, at least I can feel very comfortable in my decision to stick with cloth wipes. FuzziBunz Cloth Diapers

I can’t believe it, but we’re heading into our 13th week with our newest little family member, Harrison! His babyhood has been nothing short of near perfect thus far, as he is such a sweet & easy going little one. And each day, as we watch him grow, we feel truly blessed to have him in our lives. That said, he is certainly growing! Though I am sad to see him outgrow his sweet little fluffy newborn cloth diapers, I am excited that he is finally fitting into his fabulous FuzziBunz cloth diapers!

Let me tell you a little bit about FuzziBunz, and what they have done for us in the few short weeks that we’ve been using them…

FuzziBunz Pocket Diapers have been so far, the easiest diapering system we’ve used. Closely resembling that of the disposable diaper system, it is one diaper, that snaps on, with no extra cover necessary! With a waterproof outer layer {that comes in 20 gorgeous color choices} & a soft microfleece inner layer that keeps your baby dry & rash-free, this is truly a fabulous cloth diapering option for anyone looking for comfort, convenience and style! With a snap closure system, rather than velcro, you don’t have to worry about snagging the other laundry, scratching your baby or lint build-up. And because the absorbent layer is not sewn into the diaper, but stuffed into the hidden pocket, this makes for super quick drying time as well.

We’ve had the opportunity to sample the Perfect Size FuzziBunz as well as the One Size FuzziBunz. While both diapers get the job done equally, I have to say I prefer the Perfect Size. Harrison is a tiny little guy, and although the One Size diapers work great for night-time, they just a bit too bulky for him still to wear with his daytime clothes. That said, the Perfect Size {small, in our case} are just that; perfect! They snap on easily & they provide a great trim fit.

What have FuzziBunz done for our family you ask? Well, from the first night that we started him in them, at around 10 weeks, he has been sleeping soundly through the night! Although this can be attributed to many things, including how we swaddle him & his general good nature, I have to believe that the dryness of his diaper through the night certainly helps! When he wakes up for his morning feeding at 6:30 am, I actually feed him before changing him. So figure, all night plus a morning feeding. After that feeding, I change him & he is literally bone dry! That inner microfleece liner wicks away every ounce of wetness; it’s really AMAZING!

FuzziBunz has some great accessories to check out as well, including the In and Out Mess Free Diaper Bag, which we also received as a sample. You don’t even have to touch the mess to wash it! Just throw the diapers in from the top of the bag, and when wash time comes, simply unzip the bottom of the bag right into the washing machine. Then drop the bag in with the diapers & voila, you’re completely mess-free!

patemm pad {DISCOUNT}

Changing tables and I do not get along anymore. For the past several months I’ve been changing my toddler on the floor…not an easy task to do and not to sterile for my carpets! The story behind my anti-changing table persona: I never used the straps that hold the babies down! I know, slacker on my part, but I never took my eyes of my babies while changing them on the table either. I was always right there and for 5-6 years worth of changing babies on the tables, all went well. Until a few months back, I dropped the wipes case and bent down to pick it up. In a matter of 2.5 seconds, Aidan had stood up and walked himself backwards off the table, falling upside down {head first} into the clothes hamper {luckily full of soft clothes to break his fall}. I never again used the changing table and we took it down that night! I was so upset with myself…but of course took it out on the table! {I laugh about it now only because please imagine what I saw when I stood up, Aidan was not scared not crying, but 2 little legs were shooting straight up out of the hamper, I couldn’t see his upper body at all!} A lesson to be learned of course, a humorous story to tell, and now a product to share to save your carpets from dirty bottoms {whether or not you have an evil changing table}.

I have admired patemm pads from a far for a while now…especially since my changing table episode, and when they sent a couple samples the other day, I was over-joyed at how brilliant and perfect these truly are, for purposes at home and a far! What do you see that’s different? HELLOOOO…they are round…not rectangle, what baby do you know that just stays in one spot on a rectangle pad…let them wiggle around, and around, and around on their patemm pad! We use ours obviously on the floor {anywhere throughout the house but mostly in the nursery} and it’s extremely comfortable for Aidan, large enough for him as a toddler, yet small enough to not take up a lot of space while being used {and of course folds up so neat when done}, AND, with pockets to hold wipes, dipes, and clothing, it’s the best portable changing table ever made!

Storage Solutions {GIVEAWAY}

I’ve spent the last month or so cleaning out bedrooms and the playroom, preparing my home for the new arrivals in the “toy department” coming at the end of the month. Santa { AKA Nana, Papa, Grandma, and Aunties} just doesn’t know when to say that’s enough; so it was time to pack up a TON of toys we no longer use and send them off to the AM Vets in our area. What I ran into while “Fall” cleaning was a lack of modern, stylish storage for the kids belongings in our home. Here’s what I came up with, searching far and wide on our beloved internet; things that are on my wish list or already purchased, and a few things that you should add to yours in preparation for the holidays and your New Year cleaning!

Sarah introduced you to Babyletto and this gorgeous Mercer Collection Modo crib above in Harrison’s Nursery post last week. The drawer under the crib is a must! Perfect Storage Solution for blankets, shoes, bibs, and more, plus no wasted space under the crib! That’s the key, use up that available space you already have, in a modern, convenient way. So, over at our house, we received a sample of the Mercer Collection Modo Storage Unit in the back. That unit is actually 9 different pieces in one. We have the Cork/Chalk board cupboard top, the open cupboard middle, and drawer base. It’s so ideal for our playroom! Puzzles and games now have a home, meaning all the pieces stay in one spot! Marbles and itty bitty legos are off the floor, out of Aidan’s reach, and in bins in the cupboard! Books line the middle with fabric bins holding army men, action Heros, and Hot Wheel Cars! The bottom drawer is perfect for coloring books and crayons, anything that is used on a daily basis but needs to be kept it an easily accessible spot for you and the kids. It’s been a lifesaver in our playroom and I’m looking forward to adding more pieces of the set on to it as our storage needs grow!

Nope, we have not gotten our hands on this wall mounted “Nathi” changing station from byBo Design as of yet, but I just had to bring this to your attention! If you are looking for a space saver in the “changing table” area, this is brilliant! The modern design is superb and with a matching Nappyrette for the diapers, that also hangs from the wall, there’s no denying it…this is one of the best Storage Solution products on the market! I personally hated having a changing table and put ours in storage just last month, we now change Aidan on the floor…that’s always a chore! Let’s go over a couple different options for “toy storage”:

I mentioned fabric bins we use in our storage unit way up above, remember? Let me show them to you, courteous of Nestings on Etsy! I’m in love with the MidWest Martini pattern you see before you, and they look awesome in our playroom! We have 3 and use a couple in our storage unit for little items that Mr. Aidan still decides to chew on like marbles and legos. The other one is used very creatively by my “tree hugger” children, they use it as a reusable shopping tote in their play kitchen! It stores their veggies and fruits while not playing and sits in the shopping cart as they pretend shop the night away! Clever little master minds they are! We have a bin from Nestings to GIVEAWAY!
