ProFlowers sent me LUCK

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Okay Lucky Bamboo, it’s time to spread your luck!!   The easiest-caring-for plant EVER, PLUS it’s sure to spread joy, happiness, and luck through our home {knock on wood} is Lucky Bamboo stalks.  Courtesy of ProFlowers, this non-green thumb mama finally has a plant that will survive my lack of growing skills…just a little water every now and then, NO direct sunlight, come on now, you can’t bet that!!

This beautiful vase filled with stalks of Lucky Bamboo from ProFlowers graced our home recently with it’s charm and hopefully “magically powers”!  I was recently laid off from my day job so I desperately need all the luck I can get, from as many superstitious places as possible!  Starting with our newest plant and ending with winning the lotto!  My other reason for choosing this specific plant from the ProFlowers Blogger Review promotion, I wanted to get a look at a different type of plant to send to family members and friends for special occasions or just to say hi!   Sending flowers is fabulous but sending plants is 10 times better!  Plants last longer {and for those of you like me that kill indoor or outdoor plants just by looking at them}, ProFlowers has several options of plants like the Lucky Bamboo that don’t need much tender love and care, if I can take care of it, so can you!

For any occasion you can imagine, ProFlowers has the price and beauty to bring smiles and warmth to your gift recipient.   Your best girlfriend hundreds of miles away could use a pick me up, your grandfather is turning 80 with a surprise party, your co-worker’s happy, bouncing baby boy arrived with a precious home birth…SO MANY OCCASIONS, so many gifts…not just plants and flowers.  From fruit baskets and bears with balloons, to spa gift sets and pink ribbon berries {a whole pink ribbon line of gifts where 10% of your purchase goes towards Komen for the Cure}, so many places to begin when shopping for a gift to make the sun shine on the doorstep of your loved one!  Happy Ordering!!

credobags {GIVEAWAY}

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

One item I had yet to add to my ever expanding reusable bag list was the produce bag.  It’s such a necessity at the Farmer’s Market of course but I dislike the clear plastic bags you have to use in the regular grocery store too {of course} and placing your produce directly in the cart is germ heaven, hence PRODUCE BAGS!  They are also a fabulous way to carry items from your garden inside or from “pick your own” farms.  So many uses, just another reusable bag that is a must in any household!

It’s Earth Month, what did you do last week to create a greener environment for your family?  I stopped using those plastic produce bags!!  Using reusable bags in every aspect of your life is the simplest way to start or continue a more eco-friendly lifestyle.  Start or expand your reusable bag collection right here at credobags, your one stop shop for all types of reusable shopping bags!  From wine bags to bulk bags, hemp, organic cotton, or bamboo…snack bags for the kiddos…even this clever Baguette bag below, so many classic looking bags, whether you shop at Trader Joes, Walmart SuperCenter, the corner fruit stand, or your own back yard, you’ll find a super affordable bag to reuse over and over and over again!

credo (kre’do’) any set of beliefs or principles

At credobags, we believe that small changes make a big difference.

So go ahead …
pass on plastic and paper –
and establish your credo-bility!

These credobags are high quality; sturdy enough to handle full on monthly shopping all at once or lighter loads like  just running to the Fresh Market for salad fixings!  I never leave my house without my wide array of reusable bags and am thrilled to add credobags to the mix!  Stop using plastic, no need anymore right?? Give the gift of green as well, a set of credobags would make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift!

aden+anais {GIVEAWAY}

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Well they’ve done it again!  The fabulous Reagan Moya-Jones and her team have added to an already wonderful collection of classic cotton muslin, organic cotton muslin and bamboo muslin products for your baby!  But now,….. the team brings you the Cozy Collection :-)

aden + anais has brought the legacy of muslin together with fashion-forward design to create a line of products that are as stylish as they are useful and as simple as they are beautiful. The proof is in every product we make. aden + anais is known for its high-quality 100% cotton muslin products that are fashionably designed with contemporary aesthetic taste. They have built their reputation on highlighting the special properties of muslin that make it ideal for infant and toddler care. The muslin products breathe and allow a baby’s body temperature to regulate itself naturally, dramatically reducing the risk of overheating.

For countless generations, mothers have swaddled and cared for their children with natural muslin.  aden + anais® brings this traditional practice to you with their specially-crafted cozy swaddles. Designed with fashion-forward prints and a double-layer of muslin, they are the perfect wrap for cold, wintry nights and brisk walks in the park.

Single 100% cotton muslin double-layer swaddling blanket. The fabric’s light, open weave allows a baby’s body temperature to regulate itself naturally which helps to prevent overheating. The double layer of muslin helps make baby comfortably warm on cold nights and brisk walks through the park. The more you washaden + anais wraps, the softer they get. aden + anais wraps are extra large, measuring 47” x 47”, so that new and seasoned moms alike can swaddle babies of all sizes with ease. Traditionally used for swaddling the wraps can also be used as burp cloths, nursing and stroller covers, portable crib sheets, stroller and car seat liners, tummy time blankets, change table covers, and more.  Since Noah is almost 10 months old we don’t use our blanket to swaddle, but we do use it every single day in our stroller :-)    We use it at the park too, Noah isn’t walking yet so he sits and plays in the sunshine :-)

SIDS is a serious health concern for any parent.   We would never intentionally do something to harm our children, aden + anais and the CJ Foundation for SIDS Educate Parents and Caregivers About The Dangers of Over-Heating Infants.   Be aware of the dangers so you can keep your baby safe. aden + anais proudly sponsor and raise awareness for the CJ Foundation.

In the winter months, parents and caregivers are more likely to crank the heating and reach for plush, thick blankets to keep their babies warm. Infants who are overdressed or covered in heavy blankets or many blankets are at higher risk for SIDS. It is very important for babies to be dressed lightly and comfortably to avoid overheating. The CJ Foundation recommends the use of wearable blankets and sleep-sacks in place of blankets to keep infants warm while sleeping.  Makes complete sense!  Over 2,000 babies in the United States still die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) each year, and overheating is a leading risk factor.

Here are som risk-reducing, precautionary practices:

Consider the use of fans to increases ventilation
Room temperature should be comfortable for a lightly-clothed adult, approximately 61-67 degree Fahrenheit
Cribs should be totally free of all loose blankets, stuffed animals and crib bumpers
Lay baby to sleep in an improved crib, on a firm mattress; do not let the baby sleep on soft things, like a couch, pillow, sheepskin, foam pad or waterbed
No smoking when pregnant or near baby
If possible, breastfeed baby
Offer a pacifier at bedtime
Co-sleeping should be in the same room but not the same bed or other sleep surface as parents

aden + anais has received the Creative Child magazine 2007 Seal of Excellence and several prestigious iParenting Media Awards.

About the CJ Foundation for SIDS: The CJ Foundation for SIDS is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the special needs of the SIDS community through funding SIDS research, support services and public awareness programs. www.cjsids.org
