International Babywearing Week: Moby Go

My favorite go-to carriers are soft-structureds. Don’t get me wrong, I love my other carriers and wraps and they all have their special uses, but if I had to choose, it would be a soft-structured carrier.  I feel that soft-structured carriers are the best for hiking, for extended periods of babywearing, and especially if it’s hot out. Wraps for us can get very hot since little man is so warm natured.

I’ve tried several soft-structured carriers, and I absolutely love the Moby Go’s design. It has wide shoulder straps in a cross-shoulder design that provides amazing support by evenly distributing the baby’s weight.

what-is-a-goIt also has an unique dual foam waist belt that provides comfortable support that adjusts from 26″ to 54″. The ergonomic seat was designed for correct support and positioning of your baby with a 14.5″ seat from leg opening to leg opening with a 18″ tall body. It is recommended for 15 pounds-45 pounds- so it is a great transition from an infant carrier or wrap.

The Moby Go is a cross between a traditional soft-structured carrier, a Moby wrap, and a mei-tai. It has convenient buckles, so you don’t have to worry about tying, but it has the same support a wrap and mei-tai has in the straps. This is a face to face carrier and not meant for your child to face forward or for you to wear on your back.

I love that the Moby Go doesn’t have the top buckle in between your shoulders that most soft-structured carriers have! You can put the carrier over both shoulders and slide your baby through the top, or you can put the strap on one shoulder and unbuckle the side of the carrier and put your baby in from the side. I found that the second way is the easiest.

We went to the NC zoo over the summer and we were there for 6 hours. I wore little man in the Barberry Moby Go most of the trip and it was very cozy for us both. He slept comfortably and was also able to see the zoo animals clearly when he was awake. It is easy to breastfeed while wearing, though there isn’t much coverage. The seat is extra large, so this is a great carrier for older babies and toddlers. I love the pattern!! The only thing I don’t like about it is the black picks up a lot of lint and hair, but that is easily fixed with a lint roller.

The Moby Go is available in 3 colors: black, barberry go, and gray. You can purchase online or in select stores for only $79.95!

That’s also my favorite. My shoulders are less painful and I can move around comfortably.
