Zkano {GIVEAWAY}

Living a green lifestyle means a lot of things.  Taking responsibility for a lot of things.  Being educated and passionate about a lot of things.   It is fun and exciting, rewarding and fulfilling.   I have recently realized I really would like to focus more on buying American made products.  It is so important to not outsource our goods.   So the easy place to start was buying local foods from farmers markets.   The harder part was actual grocery shopping and buying all American made products.  Don’t bring your kids, it takes a while reading all those labels :-)   What is harder, clothes!

Organic cotton is all the rage.   In just a few years we have seen so many more products enter the market made of organic cotton.  No chemicals!  Did you know, The Organic Trade Association, a third party organization that monitors farm standards, calls cotton, “the world’s dirtiest crop.” Its conventional growth uses more insecticide than any other major crop. Exposure to these chemicals can be directly linked to birth defects, immune system break down and a corruption of our water supply. Aerial sprays can drift, spreading the toxins far past farms.  Scary!

Zkanois a family run sock company out of a small town in Alabama!  American made baby!  :-) Gina the owner and creative mind full of passion for living green has brought us a fabulous product!  Aren’t these knee highs cute!  I wear them with my cowgirl boots.   Gina’s business is innovative, clever and very focused on organic living and sustainability.  Wearing her socks lets you feel good :-)

I talked with Gina about my 4 1/2 year old sensitivity to itchy clothes, tags, zippers etc.  Nicholas has been a bear to dress for pre-school these past few months because he is so sensitive to everything he wears.   She sent us a pack of all three different styles for little Mr. Nicholas to try.   I was anxious to try the new socks.  I didn’t make much of a fuss about them, one morning for school they appeared and he was told to dress his feet for school.  I held my breath.  Ahhhhh the child pulled on the ankle pair of  Zkano organic cotton socks and declared, “mom these socks are soft”.  That was all I needed to hear.  He hadn’t said that about a pair of socks in months!!!!  A victory :-) Zkano Kids offers the same comfort, durability and sustainability as their socks for adults. Using only the highest quality certified organic cotton to make a pure product that gives you peace of mind and keeps feet cozy.  The best feature for my picky little sensitive boy is that these socks are designed with a flat seam toe, no scratching.   We later investigated the socks more to find they are also teaching him his right and left foot.  A smart organic comfortable sock.
