Beyond Learning {DISCOUNT} & Tatutina

Double Feature!!

Our Friday nights have changed, Nicholas is now three which opens a door to many more options for learning and entertainment.  Now that he can count, knows his shapes and colors and is beginning to recognize many letters of the alphabet and numbers he’s capable of playing board games!  Let the fun begin.  Off goes the TV, pull up a chair and lets have a good time relaxing at home on a Friday night laughing and really interacting with each other as a family.

I  was given the board game Word Chase by Beyond Learning and thought this could be a lot of fun!  This little board game could change our typical Friday night into a family tradition.  I love family traditions :-)    Like most of us our weeks are jammed pack  full of typical routine stuff, pre-school, work, grocery shopping, dry cleaning, cleaning the house, making dinner, packing lunches, picking up the house..etc.  So when Friday is finally here we really look forward to having no social plans, nothing on our calendar so we can just relax at home.  I don’t have to cook :-) We pick up food and get comfy.   The way of living life “24/7″ and go, go, go is changing!  We are slowly becoming a society who enjoys down time, family time, free time.  Beyond Learning understands our desire to teach our kids in a fun way, in a family way.

Beyond Learning has given us the right tools to have lots of laughs with Nicholas while actually teaching him!   And what a perfect time too.  I recently read that in pre-schoolers ages 3-5 the pre-frontal cortex (an area of the brain) that is largely responsible for impulse control undergoes considerable growth!   Interesting!  So by slowing down and really spending time with Nicholas playing games like Word Chase, Pick-Up Words or Number Hunt we are helping him tremendously not only with reading and math but with patience, paying attention, cooperation, staying still all the skills they need for kindergarten!  Fantastic!  Pick a card!  :-)

And to help encourage your children to do their very best whether playing games or learning in pre-k, get creative with your positive reinforcement!  Tatutina everyday medals do the trick nicely!  No need for candy or treasure boxes when you can reward them for a “job well done” with their very own medal!!  {My brother received a TON of medals throughout his high school and college track career so my sons envied those medals everytime they saw them…so for them, these are the best thing to receive from mommy!  “So Cool!”}
