When I heard the news at preschool Open House that Colin would need to bring his own snack every day, rather than the parents taking turns providing them for the whole class like last year, I was ok with it.  Then they said that the snack would need to be in a separate “baggie” labeled with his name, every day…  That, I was not ok with!

As part of my personal green revolution, I have been SO much more conscious of waste than ever before in my life.  So no, I was not keen on the thought of sending 4 plastic baggies each week in his backpack, all to be tossed at the end of snack time.  And where was I going to find the time to label the plastic bags each morning???

One Small Step came to my rescue when they sent me two fabulous Snack Taxi samples to test out!  At first, I wasn’t 100% sold on them.  I didn’t think they’d clean easy enough, and worried that they would smell funky after several days of snacks & rinsing.  Let me tell you, I was wrong.  These great little bags have held up so well to daily rinsing and washings & Colin continues to use the smaller one every day for snack time!  At Parent Teacher conferences last week, you can bet his teachers complimented me on how great his little Snack Taxi has been!  We use the larger sandwich size bag for PB&J, of all things, and the mess washes right out.  I am very proud of myself to say that 45 days into the school year, we have yet to use a single plastic bag!

Here is how much I love these things, and so sorry if I am ruining it for those of you whose kids will be at Colin’s birthday party next month… I am trying to get enough of the mini Snack Taxi’s so that each guest can take one home as a party favor, filled with snacks & treats of course.  How could I resist?  The party theme is airplanes, and this is the Snack Taxi that Colin carries back and forth each day!
